Answer to your email

Hello Torsten,

Here are the reasons that led Oded to say you are not welcome to the services:

Here is how the last conversation between Torsten and me developed and why at the end of that I needed to ask him not to come any more to the Hebrew congregation:

The last time I met with Torsten, on March 9, was before the Hebrew congregation's meeting. As he and I were talking I asked him about his life, and the only answer he gave was that he has an apartment in Sweden. I tried to understand more what he is doing in his life and was answered evasively. This was not a regular conversation between 2 people in the street. This was a conversation between Torsten and me, as the Pastor of a congregation Torsten was trying to attend with a clear intention of finding a local wife. I asked him about his plan to marry a local believer and explained that we had in the past bad experiences with men going after women with various pretexts that turned to be bad experiences. In this context of the conversation I asked him why he was excommunicated from churches in Sweden, in the USA and Canada. To this Torsten refused to answer saying all the info was in his blog. Again I explained that when you google his name other sources, besides his own blog, come up with more information. Again I asked Torsten to explain his personal view why he was excommunicated. Again Torsten refused to answer, accusing me of not being prepared for the meeting with him. Only then Torsten began to write his memo of our conversation, clearly failing to remind the above context in his blog.

In this context, of a visiting person clearly stating that he wants to marry a local believer from our congregation, being asked by the Pastor of the congregation simple and clear questions, giving him the opportunity to respond for his previous excommunications, Torsten persistently refused to answer using evasive statements. There was more to the conversation later but the above describes Torsten's attitude towards authority.

Describing the above, Torsten left me with no possibility but to tell him that his presence was not welcomed in our midst.

It has come to my attention that you are not currently welcome to participate in the Hebrew services at King of Kings Community. We have a practice that these kind of decisions do automatically apply also to all the activities at King of Kings including the Prayer Tower.

Sandy Shoshani.

Hi.

Your husband Oded Shoshani, who is pastor of Hebrew Congrgation in KKCJ, excommunicated from his church yesterday, on Friday March 9. The past weeks I have attended the Monday prayers for Be'ad Chaim and Lilach. Because of the recent excommunication by your husband, I would like to know if also you now view my presence as undesired on the Monday prayers at Be'ad Chaim and Lilach.

To cite your husband exactly, as I wrote down his words directly while listening to him, he declared on March 9: "Your presence is really not pleasant. I don't want you to come here."

Is my presence at the Monday prayers also unpleasant, and am I now also not welcome at Be'ad Chaim / Lilach?

Of course you may conduct yourself and the businesses of your church in any manner that you like, but I will hold you accountable before God, and before man who observes my observances.

Just out of curiosity, is the King of Kings the largest group of church-congregants in Jerusalem? How many members? How many attendants on an average Sunday?

You said today you would submit to our leadership and made your intentions clear. I like that.

As answers to your questions:

We have a welcome team of our own welcoming people by the entrance in the lobby. It looked like you are one of those that welcome people at the lobby.

I asked first if you were waiting for a specific person and when you said no, then I asked you to move from the center incoming area. If you know how to submit this is part of that. We have certain way we shepherd our people and when you say you want to be here to meet ladies and find a wife from Israel, we encourage you to fellowship with ladies of your own age. These are my honest intentions.

Yes, I have visited several services of the King of Kings congregation. I also tried to visit your Young Adults service last evening, but your leader (Jeremy, or Jamie?) requested verbally (accompanied with an upward tilting motion of his chin and dark pupils) that I should not participate in your Young Adults service with the motivation that I looked to be older than 35 years. These non-verbal signals do speak volumes.

Besides the 5 pm Sunday service, Veikko, are there opportunities to socialize with church-persons in conjunction with any services or scheduled church-activities? If so, which are the activities that KoK recommends?
