Sha’ar Adonai Church  -  New York City

The pastor of Sha’ar Adonai Church with his church-elders, in New York City, U.S.A., gravely distort truth, express opposition to conversation between unmarried heterosexual singles in their church, and ostracise Torsten from visiting their church again – essentially declaring Torsten a persona non grata.

Subject: Sha'ar Adonai church

"Rabbi" Steve Fenchel,

It is obvious from your emails that you are not particularly bright, and that you distort truth. Your email words reflect low intelligence and your personal conduct against me at your church reflects malice. Through your recent emails to me you have now shown that you are inappropriate as a religious shepherd. There is nothing Christ-like about you. Only devilish nonsense has come from you towards me.

Firstly, contrary to your statement, I have never stated why I have visited your congregation. In spite of your refusal to reply to emails, until a few days ago, and in spite of your refusal to greet me or to communicate with me in person when I have visited your church, I have still visited. Inside your head, you have decided that my only reason for attending your church is to “hunt for women”. What a shamefully prejudiced approach you have to people! There has been more than one singular reason that I did choose to visit your church. As I have little previous exposure to Messianic Judaism congregations, I wanted to learn. What I have observed in your congregation, however, is not Messianic Judaism, but rather an unusually un-Christian and un-Christlike leadership.

You distort truth. You are therefore a liar. You claim that "And seeing as how you are drawn to young women that visit or attend our services you can find someplace else to conduct your activities." Conduct activities?! What activities are you dreaming about? You shamefully distort "seeing as how you are drawn to young women". There are no young women in your church. All the persons that I have chatted with at your church are old people. On one occasion, however, I said hello to a younger woman probably in her early 30's visiting from an Anglican church in Washington D.C.. I spoke with her for approximately 4 minutes and offered her my card of contact information, and then I continued chatting with the elderly persons that attend your church.

What a pitiful distorter of reality that you are!

And secondly, do you have a Biblical reason for opposing conversation between unmarried heterosexuals in your church? Do you have a Biblical reason oppose development of Christian heterosexual marriages?

As I have so often said; evil among church leaders have the same destructive consequences as mere ignorance. Regarding you, it is obvious that ignorance is not the only problem, but also evil.

When you (and your clan of elders) have repented from your sinful attitude and against me, against heterosexual conversations amongst Christian singles, and against heterosexual Christian marriages, then I may consider visiting your Sha’ar Adonai church again. Until your repentance, I shall dissuade others to not visit your little church.

Torsten

You already told us why you want to be at our congregation.

I thank you for your openness (and warning!).

We are not! a head hunting or dating society.
And seeing as how you are drawn to young women that visit or attend our services you can find someplace else to conduct your activities.
Not at Sha'ar Adonai.

Sincerely
Rabbi Steve

There is obviously no need for a discussion with me and no need for a meeting, as you have already clearly stated that there is an "expressed purpose" plus "other reasons" that prohibit me from attending your congregation.

Therefore, please just simply explain to me: 1) What is my purpose for attending? and 2) What are the other reasons that I am not welcome to attend your congregation?

We do not lead this congregation by feelings
Your expressed purpose for being part of our congregation and others reasons, which I would be glad to discuss with you if like, have led us to this decision.

if you like i can meet with you next week...Tues or Wed...
Until then we would ask that you find another congregation or Church.

Rabbi Steve

Rabbi Steve Fenchel.

What are these feelings based upon? Who of you is experiencing these feelings? Are these feelings human emotions? Or are you claiming that God has communicated to you that Torsten is not allowed to attend your congregation? Or did you discuss something among yourselves and decide that you do not want Torsten to attend your congregation?

Hi Rabbi Steve Fenchel.

Did God speak to you that I should not attend your congregation? Or is there a logical reason why you do not want me to attend your congregation?

shalom Torsten

After prayer and consideration of your motives for attendance at Sha'ar we (the elders) believe it would be best for you to find another Church or Congregation to pursue your goals.

Sha'ar Adonai.

Shalom Steve Fenchel!

My name is Torsten. I am a long-time Christian. I am relatively new to participation in Messianic Congregations, although my love for Israel is consistent since 15 years ago.

I have been in NY for 4 weeks, and I would like to expand my exposure to meeting others within the body of Christ, since I am a never-married single man who needs opportunities to meet, connect and communicate with other members of the body of Christ. My objective is clear; I need to marry a woman of God - a woman who loves Yeshua more than she loves anyone else, including her potential love for me.

I trust that you will view my question from a holistic view on humanity rather than from a dehumanising "churchy" perspective of people as objects or as spirits. My question: What are the opportunities to fellowship and communicate with other singles in your congregation?

Best regards,
