Equippers Church in London, United Kingdom,

excommunicates a single Christian man because of his inquiry to the church

about opportunities where Christian singles can meet and communicate.

After asking a “Christian” church in London if there were opportunities in the congregation where also single Christians can meet and communicate with each other, the “pastor” of the “church” finally replied “I think it best that you do not visit our church. Please do not come.”, which equates to a British-style polite excommunication. Beneath are the relevant email exchanges.

On what grounds do you ban me from your church?

Hello Mark.

You must be a young careerist "pastor" with no heart for people. In other words, you are not at all a Biblical shepherd. There are far too many people like you running "churches". For you, your church business and church career is more important than being a light and a salt for this world in Christ-likeness.

I do not wish success for your church-business as the careerist pastor that you are, and without a Christlike heart for people, but I wish for your repentance from your current attitude against people.

I hope that I will not encounter you when I visit.

Regards,

Torsten

Hi Torsten

I have one question for you if I may. What happens if you come and after a period of time you find no one you feel is right for you. Will you then choose to move on and look for a new church?

If this is the case, I would suggest Equippers is not the place for you.

We are looking to add either non believers or believers who will be committed to the vision and life of the church. I wish to emphasis that I am uncomfortable with someone attending with the sole purpose of finding a wife.

Perhaps this is something for you to think about.

Mark

Equippers Church,

Hi.

I am a Christian single man visiting here in London for some time. I seek a Christian community where I also can find opportunities to fellowship, socialise, meet and talk with other Christian singles. As many people understand; without interpersonal communication Christian relationships between opposite genders cannot emerge.

Are there opportunities in your congregation where also single Christians can meet and communicate?

Also, is there any individual in your church involved in street evangelism?

Regards,

Torsten Nenzen
