Baptist Tabernacle Hostel in Auckland, New Zealand

I have stayed in all sorts of hostels in many countries and cultures. I am accustomed to almost everything. Generally, most persons in hostels are friendly and sociable, and some are reserved. But almost never have I come across exceptionally disrespectful behaviour in any international hostel environment.

Tabernacle Baptist Hostel in Auckland was a new experience from two perspectives; (1) the level of blatant anti-social conduct and the inconsideration by a neighbouring Baptist tenant, and (2) a mysterious disappearance of an email acknowledgement from the hostel manager containing an assurance from the anti-social tenant to discontinue her inconsiderate loud partying during future nightly hours. Since that particular email acknowledgement by the Baptist hostel manager had inexplicably disappeared later from my laptop, and likewise had mysteriously vanished from the manager’s computer too, the notion of an incident of specifically compromised integrity of internet may not be far-fetched, for whatever unimaginable reason.

The hostel manager managed the hostel (and dealt with the anti-social incident) in a very good manner. If it had not been for the mystery of one vanished specific email from two separate computers (both my laptop and the hostel manager’s), I would never have bothered to write about it publicly.

Hi Torsten

That email seems to have vanished. I cannot find it either.

Hi,

There are young partying persons making quite a bit of noise, talking loudly, walking about on the roof outside my window, drinking beer and urinating on the rooftop. One of the guys who was standing and urinating on the rooftop saw that I observed him from my open bathroom window, and he then come forth to the window to view into the opening of the bathroom window. When he peered into the window I asked his name, but he did not reply.

Are these loud partying & urinating persons residents to the hostel? Are they residents to apartment #12?

If they are residents, then can you please advise them to discontinue their noise disturbance. After 22:00 is normally expected quiet time in apartment buildings.

If they are not residents, then can please find out why and how these persons are on the roof outside my window during the night making a lot of disturbing noises.

Best regards,

Torsten
